Reflection

For my Synthesis Essay, I feel like I could have organized it a little bit much better. I feel like I had made great points but they were scattered around. The way I explained about how jobs are going to be competing in the future was supported by evidence and facts that all authors brought up. I also give advice of how students can begin researching what they want to be when they grow up. Although many feel like getting one major is sufficient, I feel like learning more about another major or minoring in something else is extremely important because you need to have a back up plan.

Purpose Statement and Design Plan

Purpose: The purpose for this synthesis essay is to gather all the ideas from all the different authors and find the whole purpose of it. All these authors are talking about the workforce and how some are affected by it or some are benefiting from it. My goal is to choose the side of how jobs are now being competed against one another and how more and more people from across the world are arriving at the U.S for its education. I hope that I can aware my audiences that many people desire the education that we receive and that we must take advantage of it. Many illegal immigrants are arriving at the U.S and are majoring in education that we know is going to be popular in the future. The best outcome of me writing this paper is that my audiences begins having a backup plan and are taking their education seriously. The worst outcome is that they do not believe that jobs are being competed against one another. Throughout this whole paper, I plan to structure it based on two authors and there points in each body paragraph and connecting it to the while idea of how education must be taken realistically.

Audience: The audience I am trying to reach upon is undergraduate students who are choosing there majors. I feel like before choosing upon a major, a lot of research has to be done to see what are the possible chances that it will be running in the future. They need to understand that many jobs in the future will be handling by machines that operate on them. I also feel like this can also tie down to the parents because they can help their child with what they feel like being when they grow up.

Context: The best time to read my paper is during High School years. The reason why is because it should give them the hint that they should go a career that will benefit them. They should also start trying to work in that field as internships or volunteers because it will look well in there resume for future jobs. The more experience you have, the more chances you will have.

 Design Plan
Strategy: The way I will catch my audience attention is by bringing up a quote that will put your mind in deep thoughts. It will make you stay in thought of why changes are coming and how it will be tough from now on.
Ethos: I will like to convince the audience by using facts that competition will always be there and that we must take our education seriously because others desire it. I will bring up quotes that explain the reasons why it is tough to get jobs.
Pathos: I will appeal my audience to have an emotion of dedication and hardworking. They will see that many are suffering from graduating off college and not finding a job and have to be paying off loans.
Logos: I will bring up statistics that prove that the job rates are being terminated due to machines being operated and controlling more objects and doing more work than humans will.
Medium: This paper will be organized with an introduction explaining what I will be talking about throughout the whole essay. Then it will be led on to a whole paragraph with two sources explaining the idea of jobs being difficult to find as well as the other paragraph. I will include an MLA because I will be using quotes.
Argument: I want my audience to get the idea that there will be competition; therefore, all education must be taken seriously. Those who do not might have a hard finding a job to maintain them in life.

What I care about

What I care about the most is rehabilitation for inmates who are serving time in prison. I feel like this extremely important because one is that they are serving time because they committed a crime. So when being sentenced, it is important that they have treatment programs that can rehabilitate them into bringing them back to our society. Many offenders who are then released from prison have not yet fully learned their lesson and continue on doing crimes that impacts our world. However, there has been many prison violence that have impacted people hardcore. There is gang and rape that occurs the most. I feel like throughout the early 1800's, the corrections department has changed tremendously to better the way things go inside the prison. They had fixed the way prisons were organized and how inmates were classified and put into different security levels. So throughout the years, the corrections inside a prison has improved as all issues were brought up and have developed ways to make sure it has been taken care of. I feel like this is a general audience issue because when an offender comes out of prison we should make sure he is rehabilitated so he won't come out to the society and cause more crimes. We should learn about how the corrections facilities run in the prison system. We should be concerned about the violence that occurs in prison and see whether things are actually going in order. Or if the treatment programs are benefiting the inmates to help them out. How has the corrections in the prison changed since the early 1800's?

Closing Statement

In my closing comments, I would like to mentioned how domestic violence has been around for many decades, but it has not been taken down due to fear. Many women are afraid or feel threatened if they speak up to programs or to police. To me, this is one of the hugest thing why domestic violence is still around, because nobody is speaking up to it. It is also affecting the household like the children. They begin to hide from the adult causing the violence and begin to lose focus of their needs. I was successful at getting all four pictures and analyzing the text and visual.

Rhetorical Analysis

Statement of Purpose and Design Plan

Statement of Purpose: My motivation in this rhetorical paper is to effectively describe every poster and explaining of domestic violence. I will present the poster, and give a description of the visual and then describe the text. I will make sure I analyze every poster and get into further detail of the visual, for example, the characters position. I will then explain how ethos, pathos, and logos show in the poster. What I hope on making my audiences feel is the need to speak out of yourself and do not let any men control you or hit you. I want to get the people to speak early before it is too late. Many symptoms might give you a hint on where someone is experience domestic violence. Audience: The audience I am trying to aim to is women mistreated by men. Nevertheless, also to the men who are committing domestic violence because not only are they affecting their relationship, but also the life of their child. I also want to reach to people who see domestic violence or know someone in life going through this situation. It is better to speak now before the situation goes worst. Context: The reason why I want to describe posters that represent domestic violence is that this topic has been talking about over the years. I understand that there are offenders in prison for domestic violence and the bad thing about that is that the child is facing the consequences. So perhaps, the child is in therapy for rehab for what he or she had seen. We all know that domestic violence occurs at a home, but most of the time it is when the male is intoxicated. He has no complete sense of what he is doing and it can get out of control. Design Plan Strategies: I will gather four posters that show the visual with domestic violence. I hope to get two with more visual and the rest with more text. I will then prove which poster effectively does a better job of showing rhetorical appeal to the audience. I will give a description of the image and the colors and fonts. I will include my introduction explaining domestic violence, and how I hope to get this point across. Ethos: I want the audience to see that we can speak early before the incidents gets out of control during domestic violence. Pathos: I want to show my audience how children are more affected by domestic violence than the mother. Logos: Prove how we can fix this and statistics of men in prison due to domestic violence. Medium: I will be writing a 5 paragraph paper of explaining domestic violence and explaining every picture in one paragraph and going into depth with it. Arrangement: One picture will have a paragraph explaining ethos pathos and logos and the description of it.

Closing Statement

Reflecting on my Design Plan, I succeeded on representing Chicago on my blog and talking about the crime that goes on. Perhaps, I could've explained more in my Logos and ethos section. I tried giving the audience the urge to be concerned about the topic of violence in our communities. I am pretty sure that everyone is concerned on safety of our children and knowing that they can be safe at the park. I hope I was able to persuade my audience with my point and they will actually help out the community. Calling the cops immediately if anything suspicious, making sure our playgrounds of our kids is clean and safe.

Narrative

About 3 years ago, I heard the most devastating news that affected the way I felt being around my neighborhood. One of my closest 14-year-old friends was brutally attacked with a sledgehammer and beaten down to death. He was huddled by a group of gangbangers as they mistakenly confused him for being part of another gang. When I heard this news, it affected my view on our society and the safety of the children in our community. The worst part is that they did not catch any evidence of who the suspects where because no camera was nearby. Gangs have controlled Hermosa, my community, for a couple of years now. If you take a walk around my neighborhood, you can immediately notice gang graffiti as vandalism or alcohol in streets. The children are able to notice as they walk to school all the different types of danger there is. We should not have any children near danger because it can affect their life. If we do not take care of this issue now, it will keep on growing until soldiers will guard our city. We, society, need to take action and make sure no violence is occurring to where it can affect our child’s education. My purpose is to gather all the community to foil any danger occurring in our streets. There are many ways that we can prevent danger such as having more police cameras around the neighborhood. Another way is having more police cars driving around or even in bicycles or in feet going through schools, parks, or stores making sure everything is going the right way. The last way is by having more security surrounding the school zone to prevent any crime. I really want to focus on this area of safety because many innocent teenagers are drying due to gang violence

Design Plan

Strategies: The way I want to portray my argument is in a fun way. I will be acting like an undercover FBI agent and taking pictures of evidence that will support my paper. My images are going to be describing the violence in our community such as Graffiti, gang violence, or alcohol usage. It is going to have the main dangers we see around us and the ways we can prevent it. I will also use ethos, pathos, and logos to catch my audience attention. For ethos-, my audience will be able to see that I care about the community and the children’s safety. They will also tell how I live in a bad neighborhood and how I grew up seeing a lot of crime in my neighborhood. I will show the ways that we can prevent danger from occurring and different types of dangers we see. For pathos-, I will be using pictures of alcohol being in the park to show how obnoxious it is to leave alcohol surrounded by children. I want to feel the need of being concern around there surroundings for their children. For Logos-, I will be explaining why it is important to have more police officers and POD’s. We always hear statistics of how Chicago has most crime committed. Medium: For my medium, I have decided to create my topic in a creative style. I will gather pictures explaining the violence I see in our communities. Then, I will gather pictures of ways we the society can prevent them. I will make sure I make my pictures stand out the most because I strongly believe that pictures tell us the meaning. I will also create a Power Point with the colors of blue to represent the colors of Chicago. I will also focus on the certain point of the images, so I will crop or zoom to focus on the object. My blog will also contain the Chicago flag in the background to represent where I was born and raised and how crime has exceeded. I will be using different font and size styles to focus on what would I be talking about. Arrangement: My power point will be about 10 slides containing types and ways to prevent violence. Each picture will have a small anecdote explaining the picture or background message of it. I will first start with explaining the danger I see around us and continue to talk about ways of fixing the community. Depending on the location of the picture, it will determine whether my goal is for you to read left to right or right to left.

Purpose Statement

Purpose: My purpose is to persuade our society to react together as a community and put a stop to all violence. There are certain neighborhoods that are engage with gang violence, vandalism, or drug dealing. We have heard plenty of times over the news of how innocent children are being victims of shooting for being in the wrong place and time. We, as a community, must worry about our children’s safety from getting home from school or by being at the park. Not so long ago, one of my best friends was beaten down with a sledgehammer close to a bridge and no evidence was found now. Perhaps, this is where more police cameras should be placed around to prevent violence or to capture evidence. The best outcome of this paper is that perhaps more adults will be concerned on their children’s safety and will speak out if danger occurs. The worst outcome of this if by having my audience ignoring the issue and letting crime keep on occurring. This will make criminals feel powerful knowing that they can get out of everything. Audience: My audience for this photo essay will be the society in the community. This means all of the adults like parents, police officers, or security guards. I want to open the broad issue of children’s safety in our communities. After my audience sees my arguments, I would like the parents to be more aware of the communities to improve the safety of our children. They should see all forms of violence that occurs in the neighborhood and how we can prevent it from happening rather than not taking action. Context: The time that my audience should read my paper is as immediately as they can. The reason why is that they should be aware of the danger around their community that they might not know about. As soon as reading it, they should take quick action and call the police department if they know a lot of crime occurs in their street so they can install a POD. I want my audience to read this paper in a kitchen with the whole family gathering around and paying attention to our surroundings. The time that my audience reads my paper should be in a time where they have availability to free time. I want them to pay close attention to my point of how speaking out can impact on our society.
